Unless your advisor or department has specified a style, we recommend using the Chicago Style.
There are two documentation methods offered in the Chicago Style:
- Notes and bibliography, most often used in the humanities.
- Author-date, most often used in the physical, natural and social sciences.
You can consult the Chicago-Style Quick Citation Guide for a comparions of these two documentation methods. Whichever citation style you use (Chicago, APA, MLA) be sure to use it consistently throughout your document.
For more information on other citation styles, please consult the Write and Cite guide.
